Recently, LinusTechTips released another video showcasing the use of enterprise-grade networking gear. and showcasing a huge transfer speed in a Point-to-pint connection.

Using two Mellanox MHQH19B-XTR ConnectX 2 Pci-e network cards for $25 each, along with a QSFP (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable) thick copper wire to connect the computers together. A use of RamDisk was also seen which basically allows using computer’s RAM as a storage device with extremely high speeds.
More speed can be achieved by using Linux or Windows Server. A major speed bottleneck is due to RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) on consumer grade Windows

which is:

“A technology that allows computers in a network to exchange data in main memory without involving the processor, cache, or operating system of either computer”

Exact prices of this solution will vary, Linus was very unclear about where to buy this or whether the product is used or not. Even though it is extremely impressive.
